 BLS Healthcare Provider Course

Course Description
The BLS Healthcare Provider Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or nonlicensed healthcare professionals.

Course Length 

Approximately 4 1/2 hours

Intended Audience
Healthcare providers, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, and other allied health personnel.

BLS Healthcare Provider Re-Certification Course

Course Description

Course Length

Adult, Child, & Infant Approximately 3 hours

Adult & Child Approximately 2 hours

For those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

Course Description
The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.  Course content includes General Principles, Medical Emergencies, and Injury Emergencies.  Optional topics include CPR and AED, and Emerergencies.

Course Length 

First Aid with Adult, Child, & Infant CPR & AED Approximately 7 hours

First Aid with Adult & Child CPR & AED Approximately 6 hours

First Aid (Advanced) Approximately 4 hours

First Aid (Basic) Approximately 3 hours

Intended Audience
For those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

Course Description
The Pediatric Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.  Course content includes First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, Environmental emergencies, Optional First Aid Topics and CPR and AED.

Course Length

Pediatric First Aid with Adult, Child, & Infant CPR & AED Approximately 7 hours

Pediatric First Aid with Adult & Child CPR & AED Approximately 6 hours

Intended Audience
For those involved in child care who have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, such as child care workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp counselors, youth organizations, and coaches for children’s sports organizations.

Family & Friends CPR

Course Description
The Family & Friends CPR program teaches how to perform CPR in adults, children, or infants and how to help and adult, child, or infant who is chocking

Course Length

CPR for Adult & Child Approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes

CPR for Infants Approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes

Intended Audience
Family members, friends and members of the general community who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card.

Family & Friends First Aid for Children

Course Description
The new Family & Friends First Aid for Children program teaches how to manage illness and injuries in a child for the first few minutes until professional help arrives.  This program covers such topics as preventing injuries, recognizing and treating basic first aid emergencies, and relief of choking in infants and children.

Course Length

Family & Friends First Aid for Children Approximately 45 minutes

Intended Audience
For those caring for infants and children, such as family members, babysitters, and others providing in-home care, who want basic first aid information but who do not need a course completion credentials.
